About
Information regarding CeDo / Alpha / etc.
Central Down was founded in August of 2001. It has gone through many different iterations over the years and even though it has, at times, been allowed to lie fallow for months at a time, it has always been around. As it exists now, Central Down (more commonly called Cedo [a name coined by Gordon of Linuxinit] or CDN), has a little bit more than it did back in 2001. Tutorials, showing how I do some of the things I do, a media section with wallpapers and the like I’ve created, my portfolio, which is fairly self explanatory, and a hosting section. For more info on hosting, please visit that section of the site.
Alpha
That would be me. Alpha was a handle I started using a little while before Cedo was created. It really doesn’t mean anything, just thought it sounded cool. Here’s some interesting (and by that I mean not all that interesting) information:
Name: Ian
Age: 23
Occupation: Web designer / student
Degrees: BA from George Washington University in Psychology 2006, currently studying Studio Art specializing in Multimedia at American University.
History of Cedo
I've managed, over the years, to snap some screen shots of my previous layouts before they were deleted. Usually, however, I forgot and was forced to either take pictures from archive.org, or to use some broken version residing on my computer. Here they are... some of them without broken images.
Version 2: Version 1 was lost, and though I found it on archive.org at one point, I lost it again. So here's version 2 instead. This version, as you can see, was a little... rough around the edges. Meh.
Version 3: Ah, the good ol' yellow layout. This one was actually quite popular, and every now and then someone says something along the lines of, "Why don't you bring back the yellow one, man?" Well there's a good reason. That reason is that I'm sick of yellow. Extremely sick of it.
Version 4: This was the first completely Flash layout I ever made. It, like version 1, was also rough around the edges. Mostly due to the fact that I didn't really know Flash all that well. That, and all of my content was just plain text.
Version 5: The second completely Flash layout. This one was muuuuch better. In this layout the bouncing speaker logo made its first appearance as part of the music player. Ah, the good ol' days of inexplicably bouncing electronics.
Version 5.5: This layout was never really released. I think it made an appearance for about three or four days, but it had a lot of bugs and my html chops were a little sub par. So it got the boot.
Version 6: Version 6 was around for a long time. I think it may still cling to the "Longest Lasting," title. The bouncing speaker was still hanging about in this layout, but this was its last experience in the limelight.
Version 7: Like version 5.5, this one only made a temporary appearance. However, unlike version 5.5, it merited a full version number instead of just a half. It took a lot of work, as I recall, but by the time I finished it, I was just bored with it.
Version 8: This is the most recent version of Central Down. That being said, it was designed at some point in 2005, so it's still a little old. It wasn't all that horrible... but extremely monochromatic. Not to say that this layout isn't...
